There are many ways of earning a living, the most common of which is to be an employee. However, the term earning a living originally meant to ply a trade or a skill. That meant you either have a skill or service to sell, or you are able to create things, which other people would want to buy. Until now, an employee is someone who has a skill which he sells as a service.
There are some people who would rather start a business. These entrepreneurs have a different way of thinking. They understand that there is a challenge in starting a business that they have an idea or a concept, which fills a need, and they believe that they can succeed in a startup.
The mindset to become an entrepreneur can be explained in a college course. However, there are other things which are required of a would-be entrepreneur. There are things which cannot be taught in class. For one, you must have the passion for working for yourself. You have to wake up every day not thinking that you are the boss, but instead thinking that you are the company and the company has to be open for business. Other thoughts for a successful startup is to have a passion for the business, product or service. To help you become successful, you must validate your startup idea by doing a market research or a survey, or observing the competition.
